Our story
Ayuh was born from a simple but enduring belief, that light is one of the most powerful tools in design, and one of the most underestimated. Founded by Maitreyee, a lighting designer with a background in architecture, Ayuh grew from years of observing how the right light could completely transform a space, and how the wrong light could quietly undo everything else. We are a boutique studio with a single conviction that every project, regardless of scale, deserves the same depth of thought, the same precision of craft, and the same genuine care for the people who will one day live and move within it.
That conviction shapes everything we do. We work closely with architects, interior designers, and developers, not as a service provider, but as a creative partner invested in the outcome. We ask the difficult questions early, we listen carefully, and we encourage to never treat light as an afterthought. Our values are not a statement on a wall. They are present in every thought, every concept, every specification, and every moment we choose intention over convenience. At Ayuh, we believe that the spaces we shape have the power to move people. And we take that responsibility seriously.
At our core
We believe spaces have the power to shape how people feel and that light is the among the most transformative tool in that process. We believe in asking better questions before reaching for a design, in understanding how a room will be used at 7am and again at 10pm, and in designing for the full, lived experience of the people within it. Good lighting is not about fixtures or lumens. It is about moments, the warmth of a breakfast nook, the drama of an arrival, the energy of a workspace or the vibe of that bar.
We believe that great design is a collaboration. The best outcomes we have been part of were born from genuine partnerships with architects who trusted us early, interior designers who shared their vision openly, and clients who gave us the space to ask uncomfortable questions. We believe in transparency, in honest advice, and in never specifying what a space doesn't need. Most of all, we believe that light, handled with care and intention, has the quiet ability to make people feel more at home in the world.

Maitreyee believes that every space has a story waiting to be told and that light is the most powerful way to tell it. Her work is driven by a deep passion for creating environments that move people, where atmosphere is felt before it is seen, and where the interplay of light and shadow gives a room its soul. Rooted in a background in architecture, she brings both technical rigour and spatial intuition to every project, an understanding of form, material and proportion that informs every lighting decision she makes. And somewhere beneath all of it, quietly, is a dancer's instinctive sensitivity to rhythm, expression and the quiet power of what is left in shadow.
