Blaxland Town Square
The Blaxland Town Centre upgrade called for a layered lighting strategy that transforms the precinct into a safe, vibrant community space, one equally liveable on a quiet weekday evening as it is during a night market or community event. Post-top luminaires establish a warm ambient foundation across the landscape, while low-level lighting integrated within handrails, benches and planter beds adds intimacy and definition at a human scale, ensuring the space feels considered at every layer. Coloured tree highlights introduce a playful character to the precinct, lending the flexibility to shift the atmosphere for seasonal events, festivities and themed occasions without altering the permanent infrastructure. Feature lighting to the columns beneath the footbridge resolves one of the project's key challenges, maintaining visibility, passive safety and a sense of activation in an area that would otherwise resist it, turning a residual space into a distinctive element that contributes to the overall character of the town centre.
