Blaxland Town Centre upgrades called for a layered lighting strategy that transforms the precinct into a safe, vibrant community destination, equally liveable on a quiet weekday evening as during night markets and community events. Ayuh Studio delivered the lighting concept, technical compliance resolution and detailed design documentation, shaping a scheme that balances amenity, safety and visual character across the public realm.

Post-top luminaires establish a warm ambient foundation throughout the landscape, while low-level lighting integrated within handrails, benches and planter beds introduces intimacy and definition at a human scale. This layered approach ensures the precinct feels considered in every detail, supporting comfort, legibility and a strong sense of place. Coloured tree lighting adds a playful and adaptable dimension, allowing the atmosphere to shift for seasonal events, festivities and themed occasions without altering the permanent infrastructure. Feature lighting to the columns beneath the footbridge resolved one of the project’s key challenges, bringing visibility, passive safety and a sense of activation to an area that might otherwise remain underlit and residual.

Lighting transforms this threshold space into a distinctive element that contributes to the broader identity and experience of the town centre.
